Zozobra– Friday August 30th, 2019 at Fort Marcy Park- a little north of historic Old Santa Fe Plaza- walking distance from Pueblo Bonito b&b. Labor day weekend (Friday)- kicks off the local celebration of the founding of Santa Fe (Fiesta). This one of a kind annual Santa Fe Fall event features a 50 foot tall puppet called “Zozobra” also known as Old Man Gloom whom is basically burnt at the stake to symbolize the cleansing of the regrets (burning away doom and gloom) and ushering in a new fresh start for fall.
A Travel Tip for Zozobra: Stay somewhere south of the plaza to avoid the lingering festive crowds in Santa Fe’s historic plaza. Streets north of the plaza are packed with many a zozobra enthusiast (to/from Ft Marcy park) and staying north of the plaza could potentially increase your for chanting before the event (burn him, etc.) and jubilant expressions after the event. Fiesta de Santa Fe: August 31st – September 8th, 2019 on Historic Old Santa Fe Plaza and surrounding streets
Over 300+ years in September, Santa Fe Fiesta brings together people from diverse backgrounds to celebrate the founding of Santa Fe. This event features numerous highlights like: an arts and crafts fair with booths throughout the plaza are; music on the bandstand; dancing on the plaza; entertainment and food booths which line historic Old Santa Fe plaza streets all during the Fiesta de Santa Fe weekend.
Santa Fe Artists Market at Cathedral Park: Sept: 21st & 22nd, Oct 5 & 6 2019 and continued May 16th & 17th, 2020!
Beginning at 10am and going a full day till about 5pm, September and October Santa Fe Artists Markets at the Cathedral Park is perfectly timed for upcoming holiday shopping! What else better than to give a unique, distinctive gift during the holidays that boasts Santa Fe or New Mexico culture and artists! The Cathedral Park is alongside the St. Francis Basilica (one block east of the Plaza) and easy walking from Pueblo Bonito bed and breakfast inn! Santa Fe Wine & Chile Fiesta: Sept 22 – 29, 2019 at various locations to include restaurants, Convention Center, and the Santa Fe Opera!
This five-day Santa Fe September Annual event is very popular!
