HISTORY: Santa Fe founded in 1610 boasts the oldest State Capitol in the US. Steps from Pueblo Bonito bed and breakfast, guest walk significant historic sites like the old Santa Fe Trail (famous for the wagon journey from Missouri) passing the San Miguel Mission (oldest church), the Oldest House, the Loretto Chapel (home of miracle staircase), the Lamy building, barrio to arrive at the historic Santa Fe plaza. (all in all a 7-15 minute walk, dependent upon how quickly you step). Cross of the Martyrs documents historic moments in time along the switchback walk to solo white cross signifying honor of those whose blood was shed in Pueblo Revolt of 1680.

Everywhere you look there’s an aesthetically pleasing figure, statue, exhibit around the downtown historic district and up Canyon Rd (a half-mile stretch to the east of Pueblo Bonito bed and breakfast (7-minute walk) with 98 different galleries). A favorite guest description of Canyon Rd “Disneyland of Art” is very accurate! Canyon Rd, Governor’s gallery on grounds of NM State Capitol are always open even in off-hours!
